Multi Stage & Single Stage Models and More Information
Zaiput separators are highly scalable modules, allowing for lab-scale product development, small production runs, or full-scale industrial plant applications. Separation in the Zaiput separator is an interfacial phenomena, not gravity-based. Therefore, the Zaiput separators can be used with any fluid mixture, regardless of their density difference.
Multi-Stage Extraction Platform
The countercurrent, highly efficient Zaiput multi-stage extraction platform allows for continuous processing, expandable resolution, and unlimited refinement possibilities.
Single Stage Z-Fox Platform
A plug-and-play platform for straightforward single stage separations, from benchtop to industrial scale.

Your team is fully trained on operation of the system, and can call on our team for support as you begin working with this platform. New separations, or changes in feedstock? All of our services are available to you on an ongoing basis to assure success.
Features and Advantages
Highly Cost Effective
Zaiput separators come at a low up front cost compared with other technologies, and reduce operating costs thanks to minimal maintenance and highly efficient performance.
Modular and Integrateable Process
These systems can be easily used and integrated within either a batch or a continuous process. Processors can also start with SEP-10 or other smaller options, and directly scale up capacity without impacting process.
Non-Damaging to Product
Instead of using agitation to form microdroplets, Zaiput Liquid-Liquid separators continuously mix in-line using a high surface area flow path and static mixers which are easily tailored to your process.
Small and Manageable
The small footprint of these systems in combination with thier ease of use lends itself towards the intensified, modular production plant of the future.
Safe for Operators
With no electricity required, no headspace, and minimal internal volume, Zaiput separators are an inherently safe option
These devices have excellent separation performance and high extraction efficiency, reducing solvent and electrical consumption.
How it Works - Extraction
In the Zaiput multi-stage extraction platform, interstage pumps convey process fluids between stages counter-currently. The standard MS-10 comes with 5 extraction stages and SEP-10 separation modules, but is easily scaled with the use of SEP-200 or SEP-3000 modules, or by adding another MS-10 platform. Stages can be added or removed to fit specific process needs.
How It Works - Separations
Separation in the Zaiput separator is an interfacial phenomena, not gravity-based. Therefore, the Zaiput separators can be used with any fluid mixture, regardless of their density difference.
- When a stream composed of two phases enters the separator, one phase will have an affinity for the membrane and fill the pores (this is referred to as the “wetting” phase), and the other phase will be repelled and will not fill the pores (this is referred to as the “non-wetting” phase).
- Once the membrane pores are filled with the wetting phase, a pressure differential is applied between the two sides of the membrane. This pressure differential is finely adjusted by Zaiput’s patented internal pressure controller to apply just enough pressure to “push” the wetting phase without forcing the non-wetting phase through the pores (see figure). The separator is designed to maintain a constant pressure differential across the designated flow rates even when conditions are fluctuating. As a result, the separator can be used as a “plug-and-play”, modular unit.
- A key aspect of the technology is that it exploits differences in wettability and surface forces to accomplish the separation; as a result, the device can separate liquids with the same density and emulsions with continuous operation.
